Photographer Vivek Vadoliya has rallied together a cohort of celebrated photographers, selling their prints to raise urgent funds to support Mission Oxygen India.

Covid-19 cases in India have now risen to an unfathomable 20 million. According to a recent statement from the World Health Organisation, India accounts for over 90 per cent of both cases and deaths in South East Asia, as well as 46 per cent of global cases reported in the past week.”

Due to the surge of a new variant, hospitals are running out of beds, while morgues and crematoriums are at capacity, as the death toll continues to rise.

Three days ago, THE FACE contributor and photographer Vivek Vadoliya announced Art for India as a knee-jerk reaction to the devastation. Set up alongside Riposte editor Danielle Pender and consultant Heta Fell, the urgent initiative aims to raise funds and to support the Indian community.

The trio rallied together 14 prominent artists from India and the diaspora, including Ashish Shah, Kuba Ryniewicz and Kalpesh Lathigra, for an online print sale to raise funds for India’s Covid-19 relief. Now, their curation of bold and expressive works is available to purchase, for £100 per print until the 9th May.

On launching the fundraiser Vadoliya said: Like you, we are completely heartbroken and devastated seeing how the pandemic is ravaging India and hope to raise as much money as we can to support India, with Mission Oxygen, who have launched an urgent operation to import oxygen concentrators and distribute them to hospitals across the nation.”

As of today, the initiative has raised over £30,000. You still have four more days to buy your prints, so get sharing and donating now.
