Neneh Cherry and Andi Oliver on cooking and friendship

We speak to the artists, curators and collaborators involved in Somerset House’s groundbreaking exhibition Get Up, Stand Up Now.

Throughout the course of this week, we’ll be sharing audio stories from the artists, curators and collaborators currently showing at Somerset House’s mega new exhibition, Get Up, Stand Now.

Celebrating over 100 black creatives – in mediums spanning fine art, film, photography, fashion and more – it makes for a monumental moment for the black community, honing in on experiences from the post-war era to the present day. The interdisciplinary artists showing include Horace Ové, Hassan Hajjaj, Mowalola Ogunlesi, Peter Doig and Steve McQueen, offering a multi-sensory experience from artists who have helped break the boundaries for black art globally.

Following their culinary, creative and musical WADALDI Day and Night event held at Somerset House on the weekend, best friends Neneh Cherry and Andi Oliver discuss on the importance of cooking, starting with the work of renowned African-American chef Edna Lewis.
