As a belated celebration of his number one album TYRON, slowthai brings us Happyland, a one-day festival that’s set to take place up the road from his mum’s house, at the local cricket ground in Northampton. There’s only one rule: “No Smile, No Entry”.
The rapper calls Happyland a place “where you can be yourself without judgment and expectations”, free from “the shackles of the everyday. The mountain where we climb to run away. Imagine what you’ve never had when you come to Happyland – you will never be sad.”
The festival’s line-up features some of the UK’s most exciting artists, namely trail-blazers Greentea Peng, Shygirl and beabadoobee, IDLES, local artist Izzie Gibbs, super hot newcomer Ethan P Flynn and BBC Sound Poll winner Pa Salieu.
“Mad love to my brother slowthai for having me be a part of his debut festival Happyland,” Pa Salieu says of the event. “Gonna bring the energies for real. Midlands stand up!”
If that wasn’t enough, slowthai himself will be performing the headline slot. Makes sense. What better way to mark the lifting of Covid restrictions than by throwing a party in a field in his hometown?
“It’s going to be a wild day,” beabadoobee adds. “I’m excited to be a part of Happyland and to play with so many great artists.”
Happyland will be held on Saturday 25th September. Tickets go on sale on Friday 14th May at 10am here.
