IDK, Brocky Marciano and Acyde discuss how artistry can thrive

The breakthrough rapper sits down with two thirds of No Vacancy Inn to debate how musicians can succeed with their integrity intact.

IDK describes 2019 as the greatest year of his life. The 27-year-old rapper from Bowie, Maryland dropped his adventurously-minded debut album Is He Real?, via Warner Bros. The record included contributions from major artists like DMX, Pusha T, Tyler, the Creator, Burna Boy and J.I.D, but IDK chose not to credit them so that listeners experience the album from start to finish instead of skipping to the big features. In an era when major label artists usually bow to rules of the algorithm, this was a bold move.

At The Face House in Miami, IDK visited us a couple of times in between studio sessions and parties at Art Basel. Also present was Brock Korsan (aka Brocky Marciano), who’s the SVP A&R from Warner Bros and manager of producers such as DJ Dahi and Cardo Got Wings. Alongside Acyde and Tremaine Emory, Brocky’s on the No Vacancy Inn team. With IDK, Brocky and Acyde in the same place at the same time, we seized the opportunity to sit them down for a chat. Listen to a discussion about success, integrity and the music industry machine below.
