There’s a daunting amount of music out there and we know it’s hard to keep up. But rather submitting yourself to an algorithm for new music recommendations, try this lovingly curated playlist that The Face will be updating every week.
Listen below and check out last week’s additions here.
Charli XCX & Christine and the Queens – Gone
It was probably impossible for this song to be bad.
Red Hearse – Half Love
Jack Antonoff is a generally busy music guy who plays in Bleachers, Fun and Steel Train and has written and produced for massive acts like St. Vincent, Lorde and Lana Del Rey. His shiny new pop project Red Hearse features producer Sounwave and Chicago singer Sam Dew, and he managed to call a favour from Annie Clark to star in the video.
Beyoncé – My Power ft. Tierra Whack, Moonchild Sanelly, Busiswa & Nija
When the tracklist for the Lion King soundtrack album dropped, rap Twitter got all excited about the prospect of rising weirdo rapper Tierra Whack on the same song as Bey. Alongside features from Whack, South-African artists Moonchild Sanelly and Busiswa as well as rapper Nija, the production credits include gqom pioneer DJ Lag and London jazz drummer Moses Boyd, who’ve been brewing their creative chemistry for a while now.
iZNiiK – perdóname
We don’t know much about iZNiiK, the “faceless” producer’s been living out in the woods for the last two years. But if he doesn’t want to be noticed, then perdóname isn’t going to help his case – it’s a high-octane, Latin-influenced banger that sounds big enough to excite arena-sized crowds.
Kranium – So We Move
Need a song for wistfully waving goodbye to toxic relationships? Jamaican dancehall artist Kranium has you covered.
Willow – Overthinking IT
Following Jaden’s album drop earlier this month, the Smith family has gifted the world with another LP. Overthinking IT is sad-but-summery neosoul reminiscent of Kali Uchis. It’s a little rough round the edges and it seems to be one of the tracks the fans are reaching for.
Squid – The Cleaner
Brighton five-piece Squid have delivered a quirky, punk-funk workout which you’ll either love or hate. Bad news if you hate it: it’s seven and a half minutes long.
King Princess – Prophet
Having released just one EP and a couple of loosies, so far King Princess has sustained a winning-streak of excellent tunes. The pressure is on for debut album Cheap Queen, which has been announced alongside new song Prophet.
