Rated by The Face: a weekly playlist

Featuring blissful Afropop from Rema, baby-making R&B by Teyana Taylor and the raunchy return of City Girls.

We’re in a crisis, but great music keeps coming out.

To keep up with it all, check out this playlist which we lovingly update every week. Read about last week’s additions here.

Rema – Ginger Me

After bumping into UK producer The Elements while on a night out in London this earlier year, Nigerian star Rema headed straight to the studio with him, and UK rap hitmaker Steel Banglez oversaw proceedings. The result of a couple of hours’ work is Ginger Me – a blissful single inspired by infatuation and desire”.

Phoebe Bridgers – Garden Song

Bridgers first shared this song back in February along with bong-ripping visuals, and we’re sticking it in the playlist in commemoration of her excellent album Punisher.

Teyana Taylor – Wake Up Love ft. Iman

Everyone was already seriously excited about Teyana Taylor after she announced her star-studded new album. On the day of release, she sent the timeline into a frenzy when she announced her pregnancy with her partner, the NBA pro Iman Shumpert, by revealing her bump in the video of a song featuring him.

City Girls – Jobs

JT and Yung Miami surprise-released their new album City of Lock on Friday, following up the two full lengths they dropped in 2018. Lead single Jobs is yet another raunchy rap classic from the Florida duo.

Loski & MoStack – Training Day

Two UK heavyweights link up. Here, chart-busting Afroswing artist MoStack leans into dramatic drill territory, which is closer to Loski’s comfort zone.
