What tunes get boxer Joshua Buatsi pumped?

The light heavyweight boxer made a playlist for The Face, featuring Drake, Dave & J Hus and Take That (yes, really).

Having won bronze in Rio’s 2016 Summer Olympics and then qualified as professional a year later, Joshua Buatsi has been one of the most exciting rising sports stars in recent years, with the Ghanian-born, London-based boxer currently being trained by none other than Anthony Joshua. The future certainly looks bright for the 26-year-old.

To get the low-down on what gets an 11-time undefeated boxer going, we asked him to curate a playlist of his favourite tunes. We imagine once you listen to this, you too could be well on your way to KO glory. Or maybe not.

Joshua Buatsi’s playlist:

Toast Up by Gunna

A song one of my closet friends in boxing plays all the time when we’re travelling to and from training camp.”

Yes Indeed by Lil Baby and Drake

Nothing particular, it just ties in with my 7th pro fight. Good song to listen to during breaks!”

Ye by Burna Boy

This is an anthem song. I even walked out to it for one of my fights.”

Ready or Not by The Fugees

Badman tune – old school but always relevant.”

Never Forget by Take That

This tune was number one when I first came to England! Brings back memories and it reminds me to never forget where I came from, Ghana.”

U With Me? by Drake

This was on constant repeat when I was in the Olympics – it brings great memories.”

Candy by Cameo

Who doesn’t like to hear this song?”

Disaster by Dave ft. J Hus

Hus and Dave on one tune? How could you not like it? Listen to Hus’s flow.”

Hustlin’ by Rick Ross

We are hustling in this life/sport.”

Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2 by Drake ft. Jay‑Z

Just a sick beat, man. It’s the beat I walk out to.”
