Amelia Moore: “The secret to a good night’s sleep? Good sex”

Judging by her latest single FUMD, Amelia Moore, 22, hasn’t been sleeping very well recently. Nightmares? You could say that, but her particular affliction is arguably worse than your recurring dream about rocking up to work naked. Moore, regrettably, is instead suffering from an acute case of lovesick insomnia.
“I think of you when I sleep /You can’t just leave me alone, you gotta fuck up my dreams,” she rages over distorted guitars. With a feature from musician and TikTok star jxdn, the track is a perfect introduction to Moore’s music. There’s the vulnerable lyricism, the unexpected, genre-melding production and her delicate, airy vocals – when she’s not screaming through the chorus, that is.
Growing up in a conservative Christian household in Atlanta, Georgia, Moore had to listen to non-secular music in secret when she was a teenager. Even the boys-next-door energy of One Direction felt a little scandalous. Her debut EP teaching a robot to love is a big departure from her church choir days, then. Sure, her lyrics aren’t WAP-level explicit, but Moore isn’t shy of the occasional “fuck” and the experimental synths that typically accompany her songs’ brutal honesty are a far cry away from your average hymn.
Now living in LA, Moore’s future as a burgeoning alt-pop star is looking as bright as her tangerine hair. If only she could get a good night’s kip, eh?
