Saweetie is a woman of many talents.
As a rapper, she sails up the charts, with instant viral hits such as My Type and the Doja Cat-assisted Best Friend. As a philanthropist, she empowers girls from marginalised backgrounds with her Icy Baby Foundation. As a business mogul, she builds her Icy empire with collabs with the likes of Mac and McDonald’s.
Oh, and she’s sick at playing Candy Crush Saga. Like we said, a woman of many, indisputably varied and surprising talents – not to mention focus. “Two or three hours just goes by when I am playing on my phone at night,” she says. All been there, babe.
Makes sense, then, that her latest link-up is with the game itself. It’s a serendipitous pairing, when you think about it, what with sweeties being the rapper’s namesake and all that. The whole thing is to celebrate the 2023 Candy Crush All Stars tournament, during which players all over the world will compete to top the leaderboard. This year, they’re in with the chance of winning three championship rings designed by Atlanta jewellers Icebox, each dripping in diamonds.
A fittingly iced-up prize for a campaign helmed by the OG Icy Girl, eh?
“I obviously loved the idea of Icebox creating the most blinged up rings,” Saweetie tells us. “I can’t wait to see the reactions of the Candy Crush All Stars tournament winners when they get their hands on them.” To kick it all off, she’s even starred in a short film in which she tries to nab those blinged-out rings for herself.
But we’ll be honest: forget the action, we were a bit distracted by the glam. Sporting a neon green and pink wig, with bejewelled talons that sparkled as bright as the diamonds around her neck, Saweetie was typically immaculately put together for the film shoot: lip gloss, falsies and eyebrows all on point. We’d expect nothing less from the self-proclaimed “pretty bitch”.
