My Media Diet: Musician and wellness pro Roses Gabor
Ahead of her CARE 4 U wellbeing retreat at the London EDITION hotel, Roses Gabor gives us the lowdown on her online habits.

After lending her vocals to well-worn classics like Gorillaz’s DARE, SBTRKT’s Pharaohs and Shy FX’s Raver, Roses Gabor’s solo offerings marked her out as an artist in her own right. Her acclaimed debut LP Fantasy & Facts, released in 2019, saw her collaborating with the likes of Sampha and MNEK. And with her stellar songwriting and executive production on the album, Gabor has continually shown herself to be a cutting-edge contemporary artist.
Alongside a flourishing career in music, Gabor also has a holistic approach to life, whether she’s asking bar staff at parties if they serve tea, inspiring others to get active with her RUN CLUB challenges, or sharing guided meditations and healthy food recipes. Out of her passion for natural living and all things healthy, she founded her own wellness platform, Interlude Wellness Centre, in 2021.
Now, Gabor and the London EDITION have joined forces to host another retreat, CARE 4 U, after the inaugural one took place in March 2021. The Soho hotel will once again be the backdrop for a day of resetting and rebalancing, where attendees can expect to be welcomed by affirmations, before enjoying invigorating Jivamukti yoga, crystal alchemy sound baths, a “high vibrational” plant-based lunch, a skincare talk and a cacao ceremony.
Wellbeing has been at the forefront of everything Roses has done for most of her life. Even as a young teenager, she considered her lifestyle choices carefully. “I’ve always been conscious of the things I eat, the things I watch and surround myself with. I didn’t know that it came under the term ‘wellness’,” says the singer. As a young adult, after feeling like she had over-indulged in animal products, she set herself the goal of not consuming meat for two weeks. “Those two weeks became years,” says Gabor, giving an example of one the steps she took towards a healthier lifestyle.
When she first had the idea of hosting a retreat, Gabor baulked at how much organisation was involved. “I don’t even plan my birthday. I will literally spend it on my own if it means that I don’t have to organise anything,” she laughs. But she knew she wanted to create a space where people could come and “remember what it feels like to feel peace and love.”
So, she did just that. After rigorous research, she assembled the perfect crew (including yoga teacher Jordana Dannii and skincare experts Salon C. Stellar) to help deliver a day where attendees can set aside their troubles and switch off.
Gabor is careful not to centre herself in her practice, ensuring retreats like this feel collaborative and communal. “When you’re showing your journey online, you can get a little clouded by your ego and I didn’t want that to happen,” she says. And don’t worry, when you attend one of her events, you won’t be preached at. As we chat over the phone, she pokes fun at herself for saying things like, “the peace is in you.” But for all of the cringing at how it sounds when coming out of her mouth, it’s also true.
CARE 4 U takes place at the EDITION this Sunday, but don’t worry if you didn’t manage to get tickets this time around. Read on to find out about everything Gabor has been watching, memeing, and more – and keep your eyes peeled for the next event announcement coming very soon.
The last new artist I discovered on Spotify was…
DOMi & JD BECK. They’re incredible. I’m a big fan of Thundercat and I really enjoy Anderson .Paak as well. Strangely, I hadn’t heard of DOMi & JD BECK, but they recently put an album out and it feels perfect for me.
The last picture I liked on Instagram was…
I haven’t got a clue. Probably a carnival picture or something!
The last TikTok I sent to a friend was…
My mate just told me that when I send him TikToks, they’re rubbish. He said the ones I send to the group chat are much better. I can’t remember what the last one I sent was, but it was probably shit!
The last series I binged (or watched a lot of) was…
I really loved The Boys. It’s naughty! I really enjoy superhero films and that was a nice change to the way that superhero films generally are. I’m late but I’m also watching the Wu-Tang Clan documentary, Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men, on Amazon Prime. That’s pretty good, too.
The last book I stayed awake reading was…
Probably Exploring Vibrational Medicine by Richard Gerber M.D.
The last Reddit thread I got sucked into was…
I don’t really use Reddit, but I found myself on there a few days ago. I can’t remember what I was looking for, but I was asking a question.
The last podcast I spent hours listening to was…
Probably either Changes with Annie Macmanus or The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett. He isn’t really a podcaster, but I also love 19 Keys and Filthy Fellas.
The last new word I learned was…
“Fossora”. Björk’s got a new album coming out and she has named it a word that she made up. I don’t know if that counts, but she called it Fossora which is the feminine of [Latin word] fossor and, in short, it means “she who digs into the ground.” It’s not a real word, but it is now because Björk made it. I love her.
The last meme that made me laugh aloud was…
Not a meme but an audio. It’s hilarious. Said audio is used in the TikTok below.
CARE 4 U, running from 10:15 – 4:30 pm on Sunday 11th September, is now sold out, but future dates will soon be announced.
