Naeem Davis

Cultural curator, DJ, and co-founder of BBZ – the club night for queer womxn, trans and non-binary people of colour.

Where were you born and where are you based?

London, UK – I was born in Greenwich Hospital, the place where More Fire Crew shot their “Oi!” video.

Song you want playing when entering the club:

Throat by Gage – the lyrics make me shudder, and that base… Or I want Kylie Minogue’s Slow. Need I say more?

What’s a film that changed your life? Medicine for Melancholy by Barry Jenkins.

The five guests you’d invite to your dream dinner: James Baldwin, my uncle Barry, Lucy Liu, Audre Lorde, and Tia Simon-Campbell.

A biopic of your life is in the pipeline. Who is playing you?

Cillian Murphy. I really feel like he has the range to play a black non-binary person, but if it’s too controversial, then I’m happy with Adepero Oduye or Kendrick Sampson.
