Join us for an intimate party with Tiffany Calver and friends

The DJ will host an exclusive evening, joined by a roster of formidable women from the sneakers and underground music worlds. Sign up free here.

Alongside DJ Tiffany Calver and eBay, we’re throwing a first come, first served party, celebrating the role of women in sneakers and music inside London’s Trading Desk – a Soho emporium of pre-loved sneakers and threads. Sign up is free, below.

Yes, on 23rd October, 7pm – 10.30pm, Tiffany and a selected rising star will play exclusive DJ sets, preceded by an open forum discussion with Sneaker Sisterhood co-founder, Giulia Zed, ELLADHC and Laelo Black. During the talk, the girls will share their journeys into sneakers and music, touching on community, style, positive empowerment and, of course, pre-loved sneakers. We’ll be opening the floor to the audience, keeping you watered with plenty of free drinks.

Part of eBay’s In Session With’ series, the event puts women from the sneakers and music community together for a moment of honest, cultural cross-pollination, uplifting another generation of female sneakerheads, collectives and musical outfits.

As far as guests go, Tiffany is pretty major. A self-confessed sneaker obsessive and a leading woman in broadcasting and deejaying, Tiffany cut her teeth at SBTV and Hypebeast working as a music journalist, rising up to become one of the most in-demand rap and dance radio presenters, and DJs. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have heard her legendary broadcasts for the likes of BBC Radio 1 – where she became the first woman to head up the Rap Show – as well as Kiss FM and NTS Radio.

As for Giulia Zed, she lays claim to some serious accolades. Not only does she present for The International Basketball Federation’s Euro League Women competition (she’s a dab hand at balling herself), she’s also been leading the charge for partnerships and strategy at Sneaker Sisterhood. All this while holding down a full-time job.

ELLADHC is a name you should (if you don’t already) know. We interviewed her recently, in case your modem cut out. Hailing from South London, the DJ and dancehall don has made a name for herself with an unbridled blend of amapiano edits, groove and Afrobeats that’s carried her from her bedroom to Rinse. She’s got a way with the ones and twos, and kicks, as well, proudly rocking left-field numbers like the Isabel Marant Bekett – yes, the wedge sneaker you’ll remember from 2010s lore – and the Adidas Japan VH.

Then, there’s Laelo Black, a connoisseur renowned for her genre-less approach (more on that, here) and a regular on the London circuit who’s popped up at Fabric, The Glove That Fits, Phonox and beyond. Laelo’s crafted a signature sound that although hard to pin down is instantly recognisable, moving seamlessly between techno, Afro-house, baile funk and gqom, never afraid to throw a little bop into her sets, putting her Nike NOCTAs to work.

Together, the three will pick apart what it means to be a woman today in the culture industries, the importance of specialised collectives and nights, and how they plan to pass the baton on to their peers, using sneakers and music as a common language.
