The sportswear giant and Beate Skonare Karlsson’s brand are no stranger to each other. Their SS25 link-up at Milan Fashion Week went viral, after all. What better excuse to make the relationship official? Behold, adidas and AVAVAV’s first proper collection, which sees the former brand’s legendary stripes get chopped up, elongated and reimagined into hats, coats and dresses of every stripe (pun intended).
“It has been a long-time dream of mine to partner with adidas Originals,” Beate said. “I’m honoured and beyond happy to have the opportunity to play around with their incredibly strong DNA. There’s so much irony in how seriously we take both sports and fashion and exploring that while maintaining a serious attitude has been incredibly fun.”
adidas Originals x AVAVAV is available via CONFIRMED, adidas.com, adidas stores and select retailers.
Christopher Kane joins forces with Self-Portrait for its residency programme
This week, Christopher Kane and Self-Portrait brought the fashion to North London for frilly dresses, a livestream session and, potentially, the best chicken pie ever made.
In September, editors everywhere rejoiced when news that Christopher Kane (who sadly shuttered his much-loved eponymous label last year) would be the first designer to participate in Self-Portrait’s residency programme. Carine Roitfeld dressed in some of the frilly, slice-and-diced, and shimmering pieces was shared across the Self-Portrait and CK IG accounts a few days before the launch this week – and it barely scratched the surface of what was to come.
Kane harked back to spring/summer 2007, his debut LFW collection, for the Self-Portrait line which incorporates adornments and trims that scream fun: chainmail embellishments, frilly bags, cut-out holes, lace and halter-necks imbue the line and make you want to get down and dirty on the dance floor (they’re also perfect for the walk of shame, FYI). Inside the launch dinner at Alva Coachworks, models Colin Jones aka Col the Doll, and Kukua Williams were just a few of the models dressed to the nines in the new line parading up and down a platform at the entrance before they were ushered into a larger space that LFW attendees will be familiar with – 16Arlington and Nensi Dojaka have hosted its shows inside the spacious studio.
Dinner was plated on an ‘X’ shaped table that included a hearty puff pastry chicken pie with a mouth-wateringly delicious flaky crust and homemade shortbread biscuits (which I may or may not have stuffed into my bag for a midnight snack).
As a cameraman followed the models about the space, recording the momentous occasion for Kane and Self-Portrait’s Instagram live and champagne flowed throughout the room, the party spirit dialled up to the max. One editor, unsure whether to leap onto the sofa with the models clad in Kane and Self-Portrait, was overheard saying: “This is mental but in the best way!”. Others loaded up on #content thanks to the mood boards dotted about the space and a revolving door of models drinking wine in the most arresting party dresses this season. I could think of worse ways to ring in party season.
Sacai x Nike come together to celebrate Japanese artist Yusuke Hanai
Tina Kunakey and her brother Zakari are criminally attractive siblings who know how to make any person behind the camera excited. This time around, the duo have come together for Sacai and Nike’s latest collab, which celebrates Japanese artist Yusuke Hanai via a coed capsule collection comprising tracksuit sets and a T‑shirt. And for those who live within walking distance of LA’ s T&Y Gallery, you’ll be able to get up close and personal with a three metre statue commemorating the collaboration between the two brands. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Sacai x Nike will be available to shop from 13th December in store and online.
Moncler and Willow Smith make quite the team
The younger Smith sibling can confidently add “designer” to her wildly impressive portfolio as of this week. Who to team up with for her debut ready-to-wear line? Not just anyone. And so, Willow followed in the footsteps of A$AP Rocky and hopped aboard the Moncler train. If you were paying close attention to the impressive roster of talent and shows coming out of Shanghai Fashion Week recently, then you’ll already know that the collection was teased a few weeks back. Naturally, Willow fronts the campaign which oscillates between minimalist designs, monochrome hues and squishy, utilitarian pieces resembling tires. With the bitter cold penetrating our bones for the foreseeable, we’d say Willow’s struck just at the right time.
Gabriel Moses has designed the 2025 BRIT awards trophy
The idea of sitting on his hands or slowing down? Pfft, Gabriel Moses could never. Hot on the heels of his latest New York exhibition Fatima, (which is still open for all you New York lot), Gabriel barely had time to pop his camera down before embarking on his latest endeavour: designing this year’s BRIT awards trophy.
Last year, FACE friend Slawn took on this weighty task. For this year’s trophy, Gabriel weaved his Nigerian heritage into its sleek design, inspired by sculptures from his mum’s house. A closer look also reveals light and dark shading – a play on his signature rich but low-lit photography.
“A lot of my work takes me back to my childhood and the things that I grew up seeing, so in trying to create something that sat differently to what had been done before, I wanted to explore the fabrics that made me,” said Gabriel of the mega achievement. “That’s all I’ve ever tried to do with my work – just bring my memories and my culture into everything, whether that be South London or Nigerian heritage.”
Patou and Onitsuka Tiger’s collaboration is tooth-achingly sweet
In the latest series of partnerships we didn’t know we needed: Onitsuka Tiger and Patou’s hyper-feminine line, which could have been dreamed up by a forward-thinking teen or a Barbie-loving adult. Quite literally the stuff of dreams, earlier this week, the flagship store on Regent Street in Central London was transformed into a pink palace for the occasion. The collection was displayed all throughout the store – it featured Mary Jane flats in two colourways, the viral Mexico 66 silhouette (TikTok will go mad for them, we’re calling it now), and Mexico Rinkan boots if you appreciate a sturdy lace-up. Claudia Sulewski (musician and Finneas’ other half) stars in the campaign shot in and around Paris. The stuff of teenage dreams, eh?
Guinness and JW Anderson have dropped the collab we’ve been waiting for
Guinness and JW Anderson had the chance to do the most iconic thing ever – and, of course, they seized the opportunity with both hands. Cast your minds back to the SS25 menswear show, where models were enveloped in various iterations of illustrated Guinness motif knits. Granted, it was sweltering in Milan at the time, but editors were practically foaming at the mouth. We caught another peak of what was to come at the women’s show in London in September, which brings us full circle to this very release: a collection replete with baggy T‑shirts and decorated jumpers – perfect for a generation that love necking pints just as much as flexing the latest luxury piece that has the internet buzzing.
JW Anderson x Guinness is available to buy in store and online now.
APOC is arriving IRL sooner than you think
A first for the cult e‑tailer, a special APOC pop-up shop is soon landing in London. The location is top secret (for now), however, we’ve got it on good authority that it’ll take place in a former underground club in Shoreditch. Don’t say we don’t give you anything. Attendees will receive deets to the space the day before it opens up, and with over 70 brands stocked on the site – industry favourites Nadine Mos, Cruda and DIRT are just a few examples – you can bet you’ll find more than enough gems to fill your stocking to the brim.
The APOC pop-up will run from 29th November until 1st December.
Erling Halaand is the latest Beats recruit
In 2024, the multifaceted nature of footballers isn’t lost on us. They’re more than just a pair of legs on a pitch. If they’re not modelling for Burberry (ahem, Eberechi Eze and Phil Foden), then they’re modelling for Skims – Jude Bellingham almost broke the internet with that one. Now, Manchester City striker Erling Halaand is cashing in on his cool points courtesy of Beats. Shot in Norway, the footballer’s birthplace, the campaign includes a pensive looking Halaand sitting atop a log flanked by huskies with a pair of headphones – the accompanying film gives you more of a taster of his favourite Beats products, which range from the Beats Fit Pro, Beats Solo 4 and the Beats Pill. We’d call that a back-of-the-net link-up.
Miista goes punk with Amyl and the Sniffers
Cool girl brand du jour Miista has collaborated with the frontwoman of punk band du jour, Amy Taylor, of Amyl and the Sniffers fame. In fact, the team at Miista are such big fans of Amy’s Aussie charm, fighting spirit and infectious, high-octane energy, they custom-made an outfit for her London gig at The Roundhouse last week. We’re talking micro-mini leather shorts, lace-up knee-high boots, and a cropped leather vest to match – all in black, of course. We need more Amys in this world.
Want more Miista? Head to miista.com.
Claudia Schiffer is a Réalisation Par girl for life
A couple of years ago, supermodel Claudia Schiffer recreated one of her favourite Valentino dresses from 1992 in collaboration with the patron saint of really nice dresses, Réalisation Par. The white and red polka dot maxi was such a success that Claudia and RP have done us a really big favour: they’ve brought it back for our shopping pleasure, in a limited edition run. Great news for those of us who need something to wear to the office Christmas party, we say.
Available online and at Réalisation Par’s Mount Street store, London.
Wavey Garms are reigniting Lyle & Scott with a Mancunian extravaganza
FACE readers in 0161, listen close. Hot on the heels of its Soho takeover in Summer, Wavey Garms is bringing the heritage label to Akaibu in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, offering up a fiery bend of subcultural happenings, panel discussions and live performances from the likes of rapper Black Josh and DJ Shadev. Leading the conversation, respected Manc MC Chunky will be joined by scene king Luke Una, style aficionado Ste Wing and the streetwear and vintage buff, Bob, who heads up Suzy Loves Milo. We’ve heard on the grapevine that Ian Brown might be showing face, too. Failing all that, you’ll be immersed into a zippy display of emerging design talents – Arun Rose, Esme Marsh and Palace designer, Georgina Hunt – who’ve each applied their own spin to some of the legendary, archival Lyle threads. Think techwear, old football casuals and some patchworked goodness, together presented in a haze of Oasis memorabilia and new-school grime. It’s open to all with free drinks 22 – 23 November. Be there, our kid.
