5 minutes with Celeste at Dior’s AW24 show

We caught up with Dior's favourite singer-songwriter to chat the brand's latest show, new music and her favourite song of all time.

Yesterday, on the second day of Paris Fashion Week, Dior’s creative director Maria Chiuri presented the house’s AW24 show. For the collection, she looked back to the 1960s, a transitional era” for the house: its first ready-to-wear line, Miss Dior, was introduced in 1967.

Originally conceived as a line bursting with freshness, youth and creativity”, Chiuri drew on Miss Dior’s legacy of democratising house codes to create a collection that prioritised sleek comfort and practicality. And who better to embody this spirit than ethereal singer-songwriter Celeste, one of the brand’s long-time ambassadors?

When she isn’t busy collecting awards or flexing her soulful sound on the world’s biggest stages, Celeste is out and about as a bonafide fashion favourite. Lucky for us, between glam sessions and general fashion week mayhem, she took five and answered some very important questions for us.

What’s your all-time favourite Dior piece?
My raspberry red Saddle bag. It was the first ever piece I was given after a performance back in 2019. It has this really beautiful woven leather on the front.

What’s the best thing about being in Paris?
The people.

What’s your go-to for surviving fashion week?
Chocolate.

What’s your secret for striking a pose?
Bag in front of the hips and one leg out to the side! I think it’s my nan’s party pose.

If you weren’t a singer, what would you be?
I’m not sure… There were so many jobs I didn’t even know existed until the last few years of my life. When I was a child I wanted to be a milliner, but I now think [I’d be a] sort of sculptor.

What’s your favourite song of all time?
I don’t really have a favourite song of all time, but I always get one that’s going round in my head each day. Today it is Stretch by Maximum Joy.

What’s the last text message you sent?
Hmmm… Can’t say. Shouldn’t say!

Where do you go when you want to be alone?
I wouldn’t be alone there anymore if I told you!

Give us a clue about your upcoming music…
Everyday”.

And finally, some words to live by…
What’s meant for you doesn’t go by you.
