Beyoncé – America Has a Problem ft. Kendrick Lamar

When the remix of a big track drops, you can often expect a half-arsed rap verse stitched onto the second half of the song. But Kendrick isn’t the type of artist to phone it in for a cheque. I’m an honorary Beyhive,” he spits on his electrifying feature. Maybe he did it to get a ticket to the Renaissance tour. DR

Conducta – 3FALL

Conducta takes his signature brand of garage into darker territories on 3FALL. With a hypnotic, whirring trance melody, the track has a sense of eerie catharsis, as it oscillates between a bright vocal sample and super-charged bass after the drop – exactly what you need at 3am. Taken from his upcoming EP In Transit, it seems as that Conducta’s evolution of UKG is about to enter a new era. OP

K‑Lone – Love Me A Little

Back in the dark days of 2020, K‑Lone provided a soothing soundtrack for government-sanctioned walks with Cape Circa, a dance album so soft it felt closer to ambient music in spirit. But ever since clubs reopened, the Brighton-based DJ/producer and his label Wisdom Teeth have been smashing it. Love Me A Little – taken from new album Swells – retains K‑Lone’s tender touch, but the bouncy beat is the work of an artist who knows exactly how to get the dancefloor moving. DR

Kaytraminé – Rebuke

Aminé and Kaytranada’s collab album is packed with suitably summer bouncy bangers, but on Rebuke, the duo slows things down a notch. Over a languid Lô Borges riff and a lo-fi beat, Aminé refuses to let a good thing go, packing in pop culture references as he tells the object of his affections that they’re Match made in heaven like Ja Rule, Ashanti”. Airy backing vocals come courtesy of a Trina Broussard sample, providing the dreamy cherry on top of a track destined to soundtrack lazy afternoons in the park. OP

Tora‑i – 17suns

On one of the standout tracks from Tora-i’s new EP& what else, the London artist explores themes of rebirth, singing soulfully against an off-kilter acoustic guitar and a jazzy beat. Having previously toured with the likes of Snoh Alegra and Omar Appollo, Tora‑i is ready to step into the spotlight. JW

Lana Del Rey – Say Yes to Heaven

Still hungry for more Lana after the release of 1 hour, 17-minute long album Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, which she put out, er, two months ago? Well, you’re in luck, because she’s just dropped this single, which fans have been hankering for since 2016. Rumour has it, Say Yes to Heaven was supposed to appear on Ultraviolence, and the song’s sped-up version recently gained traction on TikTok. The proper track is a treat. JW
