Get ready for GALA festival with NiNE8’s playlist
Ahead of their set at the festival, the collective spotlights kindred spirits in the London underground and beyond.

Words: The Face
NiNE8 are truly eclectic. The collective’s member Lava La Rue has switched from spacey rap to grungy guitar riffs. Mac Wetha juggles sunkissed boom-bap with epic indie rock, while Biig Piig knocks out radio-ready pop hooks. The group – which also includes Nige, Lorenzo RSV and Bone Slim – also know how to raise energy levels with the occasional drum ’n’ bass beat.
With each member nurturing their own solo careers, it’s not so easy to get everyone from NiNE8 on the same stage these days. But on Friday 26th May, the collective will perform a live show at GALA – and the set is one of THE FACE’s top recommendations for the London festival.
Ahead of GALA, get familiar with NiNE8 by checking out this playlist they’ve curated especially. The tracklist includes some of the collective’s best tracks, as well as music from members of UK crew Elevation Meditation (Finn Foxell and Louis Culture), the Minikings supergroup of Oscar #Worldpeace, Ragz Originale and BenjiFlow and rising Lewisham genre-masher Jim Legxacy. Elsewhere, you’ll hear mind-melting poetic rap from John Glacier, TYSON’s woozy vocals and an indie-trap hybrid from NiNE8 ally Deb Never. Tune in. Chill out. See you front right at NiNE8 at GALA, right?
