There’s loads of music out there, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up.
Rather than letting the algorithm dictate your music taste, you can listen to Rated by THE FACE – a playlist that’s lovingly curated and updated by our (human) editorial team every week.
George Riley – More is More (SHERELLE’s More is Jungle mix)
There’s been a lot of club chat in the office lately. As the year winds down and the nights get colder, it seems we’re all yearning for a good sweatbox sesh before the festive season really kicks in and we’re stuck sipping mulled wine with our relatives. Perhaps, George Riley was thinking the same when she dropped the extended version of her cheerful club record More is More last week (titled, of course, More is More is More). This updated version contains three new tracks, one of which is a remix by SHERELLE. Putting her signature spin on More – the Janet Jackson-tinged sixth track of the first edition – SHERELLE teases out the muted jungle snippet in the original and puts it firmly in the foreground on the remix. Flipping the record on its head, George’s breathy vocals go from carrying the song in More to hovering softly in the air above a ferocious, skittering beat on SHERELLE’s remix. I reckon it’s high time to get front left. TL
Lil Uzi Vert – Relevant
Back in 2018, when Lil Uzi Vert was at the height of their influence, they caused a stir with a hilarious tweet: “If you 30 years old you lame”. Uzi’s last album, 2024’s Eternal Take 2, was widely considered a disappointment, and the rising new gen star Nine Vicious has argued that they’re now irrelevant. So was the tweet a self-fulfilling prophecy? Uzi has returned as a freshly independent artist with two singles – Chanel Boy and Relevant. On the latter, they throw shots back at Nine Vicious and relentlessly argue that they’re still relevant with a gooey hook that’s splattered all over glistening, psychedelic production. The rap internet has exploded with reaction videos to Uzi’s comeback, so it would be silly to write them off just yet. DR
Central Cee – Booga
When you really boil it down, Central Cee is famous for two reasons: because he’s a good rapper, and because he’s a good-looking guy who goes viral when he shows up at Fashion Week. Booga is a reminder of the former. Over a throbbing logdrum, Cench’s imagery is both playful (“I’m trynna get my belly big like Buddha”) and dark (“Go OT and it look like we’re camping, rambo knife and a portable cooker”). “I went school with Mohammed, Abdullah,” he raps, before reeling off a string of Somalian and Islamic references. For the side of his audience who cares about his lyricism, there’s plenty to appreciate. DR
Zukovstheworld – Eating Bullets
Having collaborated with the likes of fakemink and Fimiguerro, Zukovstheworld – who recently had the honour of being THE FACE’s Cool Music Person of the Week – is a prominent figure in the UK rap underground. He experiments throughout his new project End of the World and on Eating Bullets, he uses studio effects to chop-up and mutate his smokey singing voice as a gentle synth-pop track gives way to hissing guitars. This must be the new sound he recently referred to as “avant-pop”. DR
TTSSFU — Upstair
Hot off the heels of her acclaimed EP Blown, Wigan-born musician TTSSFU has dropped Upstairs, a low-key, dreamy tune “about a man I met one time and became completely obsessed with,” she says. “I went upstairs to be alone with you/And by that I mean a photo,” she sings sadly, as shoegazey guitar sounds meander in the background. TTSSFU is feeling the loneliness down to her bones – we hope she finds some comfort before Xmas rolls around. JW
