Beyoncé protégées and The Next Biggest Duo in R&B, Chloe x Halle, have transformed their backyard into a film set (tennis courts, swimming pool and fancy/fantasy breakfast eatery included), for the latest episode of Fendi’s #MeAndMyPeekaboo series.
The dreamlike video celebrates the relationship between the Fendi Peekaboo bag and the Italian fashion house’s extended family – with previous campaigns starring the Kardashian clan, sisters TK Wonder and Cipriana Quann and J‑Pop stars Ami and Aya.
The Bailey sisters signed to Queen B’s management company off the back of their YouTube cover of Beyoncé’s Pretty Hurts. Since then they’ve dropped two critically acclaimed albums and been advocates for the Black Lives Matter movement. No wonder they were an obvious choice for Fendi when it came to their latest capsule.
The pair were given complete creative control over the campaign, including the team. Calling in the help of art director Andrew Makadsi, videographer Derek Milton, photographer Julian Dakdouk, and of course, their stylist (and wardrobe curator to Beyoncé) Zerina Akers, they got to work.
“This video was inspired by a song off of our new album called Busy Boy. With the playful lyrics, we wanted to mix dreamy scenery to compliment the song and the playfulness of the Peekaboo bag,” explain Chloe and Halle. “Filming content during quarantine is so much fun because it allows you to be extra creative, and in this case we got to shoot every scene from home in our backyard.”
The resulting film sees the power duo powerstancing on their tennis court, with pink tennis balls rolling around the floor, each swinging a Peekaboo bag at their side. Chloe wears a sky blue lace, floor-length dress with billowing sleeves and Halle an ethereal white puffed number. Next, it cuts to an enviable breakfast scene before ending with the girls taking a splash in the pool (with bags in tow, naturally).
