Podcast: The rise and rise of Martine Rose

The British-Jamaican designer is one of the most exciting creative forces in fashion – and Kendrick Lamar agrees. This week’s episode of THE FACE Podcast is dedicated to Rose's unique career.

Martine Rose has made headlines a number of times in recent weeks.

On Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s new track The Hillbillies, Lamar name-drops Martine Rose and wears her pieces while he goofs around in the video. Rose collaborated with the superstar on looks for his Big Steppers tour last year, and back in November, Lamar posted a tribute to the British-Jamaican designer on his Instagram. Then, at the 2023 Grammy Awards, Lamar wore the Martine Rose x Nike Shox MR4 sneakers while collecting his award for Best Rap Album. Seems he can’t get enough, eh?

Not long before The Hillbillies dropped, Rose was announced as Clarks’ first-ever guest Creative Director. The former FACE cover star will debut the designs at London Fashion Week this month.

For this week’s episode of THE FACE Podcast, our Editor and host Matthew Whitehouse is joined by THE FACE’s Digital Director Brooke McCord and 10 Magazines Paul Toner, to discuss Rose’s inspiring impact on the UK fashion scene and the global success that lies ahead of her. We also reminisce on that time she sold her Nike collab through a proud ferret owner on Craigslist.

Listen to THE FACE Podcast below and revisit our 2021 England NOW cover story with Martine Rose here.
