If there’s one thing we can all agree on when it comes to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it’s that a mega Morocco side provided a great deal of excitement in its progress to the final four – the first African and Arab side to feature in the World Cup semi-finals.
The team’s following was a huge part of it. London’s Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square – not far from FACE HQ – became a focal point of celebrations, with fans waving flags and honking car horns, as many of the country’s young diaspora flocked to soak in the national team’s progress.
The story ended on Wednesday night, with a spirited semi-final defeat against France. But in a World Cup mired in controversy, Morocco provided a captivating World Cup journey – one captured in these photos by Zaineb Abelque below.
