The Face Film Club: Queer
Daniel Craig joined us at the Curzon Hoxton for a special Q&A and screening of Luca Guadagnino’s William Burroughs adaptation last week. Lucky us, eh?

There were some enraptured scenes at Curzon Hoxton in East London this week for a special screening – in partnership with MUBI – of Luca Guadagnino’s Queer. Ahead of its release on Friday, a packed house of lucky FACE readers and specially invited guests enjoyed courtesy drinks and a preview of the brilliant new film from the director, adapted from William Burrough’s novel of the same name. And to add to the excitement was an appearance by the leading man himself.
Daniel Craig – in brown boots, tweed trousers, wintry knitwear and a jaunty neckerchief – took to the stage (well, floor) for a post-screening Q&A. The actor was on passionate form as he answered questions about his portrayal of William Lee and his ecstatic, obsession-fuelled relationship with Allerton (Drew Starkey) in 1950s Mexico; the character’s elegantly dishevelled styling; and his and Drew’s embracing of full dance choreography to portray an Ayahuasca trip in a standout scene.
Oh, and he followed through on his promise, made in his FACE interview, to bring his pimped-up iPod along – and, in fact, gifted it to us. What a gent.

Big thanks to Daniel, Laura Symons, all the team at Mubi and Curzon Hoxton. Queer is in cinemas now. What you waiting for?
