Devlin Wylde is a leading erotic hypnotist whose 30-minute tales of werewolf gangbangs and tentacle bath tub sex will supposedly make you cum again-and-again-and-again.

“I avoid the camera like the plague,” says adult entertainer Devlin Wylde as he excuses his reluctance to video Skype. “I’m pretty sure there’s only five photos of me in existence.”
A camera shy porn star sounds like an oxymoron – or at the very least, like he’s made an ill-thought out career choice. But Wylde (yes, Wylde is his real name) absolutely adores his job: “I genuinely wake up every morning excited to record, even after three years of doing it.”
A former hypnosis coach, Wylde is now one of the world’s leading producers of guided masturbation audio – or “professional erotic hypnotism”, as he puts it. “I set out to help women have the most intense orgasms of their life,” he says with a slight Lancashire twang that undulates as he speaks with crystal clear dictation. In fact Wylde argues that his 30-minute, self-written, self-narrated erotic trance stories can make a woman climax up to five times.
This may seem like an outlandish claim, but his numbers say otherwise. His site, wyldedesires.com, currently sees 5,000 daily downloads and his Mixcloud has clocked up tens of thousands of playbacks. On YouTube, satisfied listeners sing his praises, leaving comments like: “I usually listen to stuff like this just to get a little turned on, but I was soaked by the end”, or ”I didn’t think it would work but I’ve never been more relaxed and sexually satisfied in my whole life”. Some ardent fans even pay between £60 – 200 for personalised versions of their favourite stories (“this can range from having their names put into the story or having a personal fantasy scripted exclusively for them”, he says).
The popularity of audio porn has been growing steadily over the past 15 years, with websites such as Tumblr, Reddit and Literotica all hosting erotic audio. However, it was the 2018 launch of Dipsea, an audio porn subscription app, that propelled the genre into the mainstream, with sites like Girl on the Net, Quinn and Queer Street becoming regular purveyors of elevated, aural filth.
“It’s a lot more of a sensual experience than watching pornography,” explains Wylde. “Women tend to enjoy it more than men because it’s definitely a lot more intimate.”
It’s not just the sound of his voice (more on this in a second) that has made Wylde such a popular choice, though, “I was on Soundcloud but they barred me for being too sexually stimulating,” he says. “And Bathing In Lust was blocked by Amazon for being too provocative.” These sites are being prudish (both platforms now act as hubs for the growing audio porn industry); it’s just that Wyde’s material is seriously X‑rated. Think werewolf gangbangs and tentacle bathtub sex kind of raunchy.
“If it’s something you couldn’t enjoy in real life, then you need to go into a trance,” he explains. “When there’s no link to the real world, your imagination must be unlocked to indulge in the fantasy. But when it does, it can provide some of the most intense orgasms of your life.”

Wylde is drawing on his background as a qualified hypnotherapist. After receiving his International Certification Board of Clinical Hynotherapists (ICBCH) in the late ’90s, he spent the next two decades using stories and hypnosis to help people discover ways of handling their situations. He set up a private clinic in 2012, then three years ago, a colleague gave him a wild idea: the techniques applied to help businessmen visualise their success could be used to help get women off.
It works like this: once Wylde navigates listeners into a trance, the experimental tales (read: porn that would usually make you go, “Eh?”) tap into their subconscious — the area of your mind that controls your physical reactions. Many have confirmed they reached the big O without even touching themselves.
But why do the fantasies need to be so… weird? Well, it turns out, it’s just a simple case of supply and demand. “A lot of these are requests,” explains Wylde, “I also get inspiration from looking on Amazon and video channels to see what’s popular, and read lots to see what people are enjoying.”
Then there’s his voice. “When I was 19, people used to ring up the therapy clinic I was working at just to listen to my voicemail,” says Wylde with an embarrassed chuckle, “I used to get complaints from the technology department because my voicemail was always full.”
With a deep resonant quality and a trained tendency to accentuate vowels and lower consonants, the audio coitus coach’s honey-laced voice practically oozes down your ear. In fact, it’s one of the main things his committed fanbase remark on. “I want to fuck his voice” comments one eager listener, “How is his voice even real!?” types another.
“I like the letter S, I think it’s incredibly sexy,” he says (his favourite word is salacious). “I’m not a big fan of T sounds.”
Wanting to give women the best orgasms of their life is a worthy business goal in itself, but his methods are also bypassing the more problematic sides of the porn industry.
While many porn entertainers perform consensually (and many love what they do), it’s still an industry rife with exploitation. But with audio porn, it’s unlikely that anyone has been coerced into reading something they don’t want to. And as Wylde puts it: “We give less of ourselves because you never see us, you only hear us.”
So what does a working day for a vocal porn star look like? Pretty idyllic. “I get up and have a coffee – I only have one coffee a day because it messes with my voice,” he explains. “Then I take the dogs out in the garden, sit down, watch the news, check my emails and then get on with scripting or recording.” On average it takes three weeks from when he first has an idea to script it, record it and edit it.
It’s now 3pm and Delvin Wylde needs to crack on with his latest fantasy. It’s an exclusive tale tailored for his special £7.99 paying members, one that will involve vampires, BDSM and “a special, naughty surprise”. Turned on? Well, you know where to go.
