Yesterday, Lizzo got her loyal Lizzbians all giddy. Ever since the release of her hit album Cuz I Love You back in 2019, fans have eagerly awaited a new release from the Detroit-born singer-songwriter and, according to a video posted to her TikTok last night, the wait could soon be over. Ah!
In response to a user commenting “I hear an album is coming”, Lizzo teased that she was working on some fresh material with British-American super-producer Mark Ronson. “An album? Absolutely not, I’m not making no fucking album, I’m not in a studio, this isn’t Mark Ronson, this isn’t a whole board, I’m not hanging out with songwriters like Phil…” she said, sarcastically, from a purple-hued studio, turning the camera onto Ronson and Phil Lawrence, who worked on Bruno Mars’ Grammy-winning 24K Magic, before bursting into her signature throaty laugh.
Lizzo hasn’t just been using TikTok to get her 17 million followers excited for potential new music, though. Yesterday, the artist also posted a video debunking bizarre rumour that the she “attempted a stage dive” at a recent concert, leaving “one dead” and “seven injured” – which was widely circulated via fake TMZ Twitter accounts.
“So, I’ve seen a lot of annoying things about me on the internet, but the thing that bothers me the most is this rumour that I stage-dived at a concert and killed somebody,” she said in the video.
“Like, that rumour, is a lie, first of all. I’ve never stage dived in my life and bitch, how, like, killed somebody? Y’all really going to put that on my motherfuckin’ name? Like, I know I’m big, but bitch, I’m not that fuckin’ big.” To further prove her point, she dove head first onto her bed to demonstrate that, in fact, there’s really no way she could kill someone by jumping on them.
