There’s loads of music out there, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up.
Rather than letting the algorithm dictate your music taste, you can listen to Rated by THE FACE – a playlist that’s lovingly curated and updated by our (human) editorial team every week.
PinkPantheress – Tonight
On the first of January, PinkPantheress hinted at something big coming for the year, tweeting “oh we are soooo back #2025.” Four months later and the former FACE cover star has finally dropped the first track from her upcoming mixtape, Fancy That. “Talk later, that’s where you’re going tonight/your sex on fire, that’s where we’re going tonight,” Pink sings flirtatiously over a bouncy, dance floor-destined beat which samples strings from Panic! At the Disco track Do You Know What I’m Seeing?. The accompanying Bridgerton-inspired music video features Pink and a cast of dancers running around an opulent countryside mansion in corsets and pearls while eating lobster and pillow fighting. As one X user put it, “she makes being British look fun.” TL
2hollis – Nice
There were a bunch of breakup songs on 2hollis’s 2024 album Boy. On this dance floor-ready single from his new album Star, the fast-rising pretty boy is trying to turn his charm back on. “Let’s have fun, treat it like nobody else can see /But I could be mean tonight, ooh, but that’s not what I’m tryna be,” hollis breathily sings over bleepy synths that would sound good under strobe lights. After it’s ended in tears, we’ll be hearing all about it on his next album. DR
Fakemink – Music and Me
Whenever Fakemink jumps on a beat by OK, the North Carolina producer who also works with US jerk stars Nettspend and Osamason, you just know it’s gonna sound good. Music and Me – which, by my count, is the ninth track Fakemink has dropped this year – is a scuzzy but beautifully melancholic ode to young love and heartbreak. “The look on her face, tears runnin’ /Don’t know what to say, but you still say somethin’,” the 20-year-old raps over a smudgy bassline and twinkling keys. They’ve done it again. DR
Rosie Lowe – Something (Pearson Sound remix)
On the original version of Something, one of the stand-out tracks from Rosie Lowe’s most recent album Lover, Other, she sings soulfully about finding satisfaction with what’s in front of you. This remix, courtesy of Pearson Sound (who actually mixed the entirety of Lover, Other), chops the track up into something heavier, more euphoric and certainly club-ready. “It was an exciting prospect to let him re-interpet Something as someone who spent a lot of time with the music,” Lowe wrote on Insta. “He put his own spin on the song and treated the parts with such love and understanding. I adore what he came back with”. JW
Jawnino – Sweden Freestyle
Jawnino clearly parties hard. On his 2024 project 40, the leftfield London rapper sounded as though his mind was racing on his way home from the afters at sunrise. He’s at it again on Sweden Freestyle. “I’m in the boozer playing darts /I never played backgammon /But I played with the gear like Richard Hammond,” he brags over airy synths that rise like clouds of cigarette smoke. Hopefully he at least stays hydrated. DR
