Rated by The Face: a weekly playlist
Listen to fresh indie pop from Jay Som, a slinky tune from Nigerian star Rema and Manchester's finest Aitch at his best.
There’s a daunting amount of music out there and we know it’s hard to keep up. But rather than submitting yourself to an algorithm for new music recommendations, try this lovingly curated playlist that The Face will be updating every week.
Check it out below and read about last week’s additions here.
Rema - Beamer (Bad Boys)
In 2019 Rema had a banner year, enjoying a global buzz with his hit Dumbei. One of the young Nigerian star’s two new singles, Beamer (Bad Boys) is a slinky tune produced by Jamaican hitmaker Rxssian, who seems to specialise in transcontinental collabs with crossover appeal.
Aitch — Mice
Aitch just casually reminding us that he’s one of the UK’s sharpest MCs here.
Youngboy NeverBrokeAgain — Lip Top
Last October, Youngboy NBA topped the US Billboard Chart with his mixtape AI Youngboy 2, and he’s already back with another full length, Still Flexin, Still Steppin. Lil Top is textbook Youngboy, with melodic and emotionally intense raps set to melancholic pianos and soulful guitar licks.
Allie X — Susie Save Your Love ft. Mitski
Allie managed to tempt Mitski out of temporary musical retirement.
Jay Som - A Thousand Words
Not many artists make indie pop feel as fresh as Jay Som. This loosie is a little more straight-forward than the more fleshed-out material from last year’s excellent Anak Ko, but its breezy charm has got us all excited for Jay Som’s rescheduled tour dates.
