Rated by The Face: a weekly playlist

A brand new banger from the legendary Gaga, a genre-bending track from experimental duo 100 gecs and the return of London-via-Eastbourne collective, 404 Guild.

There’s a daunting amount of music out there and we know it’s hard to keep up. But rather than submitting yourself to an algorithm for new music recommendations, try this lovingly curated playlist that The Face will be updating every week.

Check it out below and read about last week’s additions here.

Lady Gaga – Stupid Love

After 2016’s stripped-back Joanne album and the soundtrack for A Star is Born, Gaga’s back with a big, glittery, hands-in-the-air banger.

100 gecs – Ringtone (remix) ft. Charli XCX, Rico Nasty & Kero Kero Bonito

100 gecs are a bit divisive – a lot of music journalists seem to marvel at the duo’s agility in switching between genres. But for people who spent too much time on MySpace back in the day, all the chiptune, witchhouse and nintendocore references might bring to mind the the dodgy Crystal Castle remixes floating around circa 2008. Either way it’s hard to argue with the melodic brilliance of this new remix with Charli XCX, Rico Nasty and UK band Kero Kero Bonito.

Minor Science – Blue Deal

Next up on the always-intriguing Whities label is Second Language, the debut album from Berlin-based producer Minor Science. This lead track is five minutes of sonic bliss.

Young Nudy – Understanding

Young Nudy is a well-respected figure in Atlanta’s rap scene (if you didn’t already know, he’s 21 Savage’s cousin). A zoot-smoking demon shows up in the Understanding video to reaffirm this.

Elison 404 (404 Guild) – Perfect Dark

London-via-Eastbourne collective 404 Guild are branching out with these group-within-group projects. Elison 404 features members Eliot and Sonny, and this is their emotionally raw, but ultimately uplifting new song. Check out the video here.
