100 gecs – Hey Big Man

Geccers rejoice: 10,000 gecs, the much-delayed second album from Dylan Brady and Laura Les, will finally be arriving in March next year. To tide us over, 100 gecs have dropped the surprise EP, Snake Eyes. Having been the first song in the the setlist for some time now, the scuzzy moshpit-opener Hey Big Man is already a fan fave. DR

PinkPantheress – Boy’s a Liar

The patron saint of bittersweet break-up tracks has returned with the sonic equivalent of a massive eyeroll. ​“The boy’s a liar, the boy’s a liar /​He doesn’t see ya, you’re not looking at me, boy”, PP sings distinctively against satisfying retro bleeps and piano riffs she co-produced with Mura Masa. RM – Yun ft. Erykah Badu

On Indigo, RM’s first proper solo album, the de facto leader of BTS breaks aways from the hyper-catchy chart toppers that made him and his bandmates global superstars. Album opener Yun serves as a sort of manifesto, as he repeats ​“I wanna be human, before I do some art”, a nod to both the track’s title and sample, a recording of Korean artist Yun Hyong-keun. Vocals from Erykah Badu give the laid-back production an extra layer of soulfulness, as RM’s introspective lyrics reveal what it’s like to be one of the world’s biggest pop stars, with the world simultaneously at your feet and on your shoulders. Babyface Ray – Crazy World

Despite his heavy-lidded demeanour, rising Detroit rapper Babyface Ray is enjoying major success right now. The production on Crazy World – a highlight from Mob, his second project of the year – is airy and gentle, allowing his nonchalant delivery to take centre stage. DR

Rippa – NBAG

Having made a name for himself as a community activist in South London, Jhemar Jonas has dropped Night Time Walk, his first EP as Rippa. On the final track NBAG (Never Been a Gangster), the 20-year-old proves himself to be a wise head on young shoulders. DR

Latto – FTCU ft. GloRilla and Gangsta Boo

Memphis rapper GloRilla has been rising up hip-hop’s ranks this year thanks to a string of hard-hitting anthems which have had superstar remix treatment. First, Latto and JT from City Girls jumped on her track F.N.F. and, in September, Cardi B appeared on the remix for Tomorrow. GloRilla repays Latto the favour on FTCU – a stomping homage to Three 6 Mafia’s 1995 hit Tear da Club Up – which also features the Three 6 legend herself, Gangsta Boo. JW
