Rated by The Face: a weekly playlist
Arca and Rosalía join forces, Megan covers Eazy-E and Haim return with cathartic country rock.
We’re in a crisis, but great music keeps coming out.
To keep up with it all, check out this playlist which we lovingly update every week. Read about last week’s additions here.
Arca – KLK ft. Rosalía
The long-awaited collab is here and it’s a banger. KLK – taken from Arca’s new album KiCk i – is driven by the hip-shaking reggaeton rhythm of a Rosalía hit, but Arca distorts it and contorts it into something weirder.
Megan Thee Stallion – Girls in the Hood
Megan Thee Stallion isn’t the first rapper to flip Eazy‑E’s ‘87 track Boyz-n-the-Hood – Yelawolf, Migos and Freddie Gibbs and 03 Greedo are among those who’ve heavily referenced it. But she’s definitely one of the best.
Haim – I’ve Been Down
According to Danielle Haim, this cathartic country rock tune was the last song they wrote for their new album Women In Music Pt. III, which everyone loves.
c . racha – I Fell in Love With You, So I Can Fall Out
A perfect moment of bittersweet soul here, courtesy of an enigmatic new songwriter.
IDK – Bulletproof ft. Denzel Curry & Maxo Kream
The London-born, Maryland-raised, LA-based rapper has released his mixtape IDK & Friends 2, which is also the soundtrack to Kevin Durant’s documentary Basketball County: In The Water. Among his many friends are Rico Nasty, A$AP Ferg, Juicy J as well as Florida’s Denzel Curry and Houtson’s Maxo Kream – who appear on this intense highlight.
