Ethel Cain and Little Simz killing it on stage? No biggie for them, and quite frankly, to be expected. Now, they’re conquering the modelling world, too. Enter: Miu Miu’s AW24 campaign. As a teenager, leaving plates under your bed and clothes strewn around on the floor after a messy night out was a universal experience. Inspired by this sense of sartorial nostalgia, for the campaign, Miu Miu hones in on the importance of wardrobe shifts.
Starring the likes OG Cara Delevingne and Charlotte Cardin alongside Simz and Ethel, it was shot by Zoë Ghertner and styled by Lotta Volkova. Ethel nails several lewks: namely a pullover match with an illustrated skirt and a pair of kitten-heel boots (viral Green dress Tiktoker would approve of these heels in the club); a fetching grey skirt, cardi, and boots combo, plus a knockout LBD editors will be all over like a rash. “Try not to say mother challenge”, said one X user. Cain’s Instagram handle (@mothercain) is nothing if not accurate.
Simz’s presence, meanwhile, is unmistakable. Her intense gaze? On point. Her ‘fit? Immaculate. Sat on a chair in a room with a whirlpool carpet, the Gorilla rapper looks divine in a duck-egg blue skirt, clutching a black nappa leather bag with gold hardware, patent gloves, and a cardi your nan would certainly try to nab off your back.
Tom Ford’s Peter Hawkings leaves another creative director post open
During a recent trip to New York, drinks with a few fashion friends quickly turned into a discussion about the recent, if ever-revolving door of creative directors exiting fashion brands. “Who would take over Dries Van Noten now that Dries himself has stepped down?”, we wondered. What will the future of Chanel look like under new leadership?”
Well, another creative director opening has just entered the chat: Peter Hawkings announced he’s quitting his role as creative director at Tom Ford this week. Hawkings was appointed the role in April 2023 – Tom Ford hand-picked him following a long-standing working relationship which dates back to Ford’s tenure at Gucci. Less than a year after showcasing his debut line in September last year, he has decided to leave the New York-based brand. As it stands, the brand has no plans to stage a runway show during fashion week this September. The solution? Tom can hike up his sleeves and come back to run Tom Ford. Or does he already have his eye on his next successor? Tune in next week for the next episode of creative director musical chairs…
Martine Rose is (of course) shaping your winter wardrobe
There’s simply no competition. Martine Rose is and will always be your fave’s favourite designer. See: Kendrick Lamar in fresh-off-the-runway Martine at the 65th Grammy Awards or Rihanna’s date night ensembles with A$AP, which frequently include at least one sold-out Rose garment. Case closed.
While Brat Summer is rightly still ruling the season (we don’t care if you disagree), there’s no harm in thinking ahead. Thoughtful as she is, Martine has dropped the AW24 lookbook for her eponymous brand, saving us the trouble of a winter spent bargaining with hype beasts on Depop who are flogging battered Martine loafers.
The collection, which centers around using clothes as a vehicle for self-expression, features a 37-strong line with groovy nectarine velvet trousers, razor-sharp suiting, cropped pinstripe jackets, poncho-like coats, heavily patterned jeans, and lots more drool-inducing goods.

Ukraine Fashion Week returns for SS25
The last few years have been challenging for Ukrainian designers, following a pause on fashion week after two years of war. Back on home turf for the first time since Russia invaded, the 55th fashion week in Kyiv, running from 1st until 4th September, will spotlight more than 50 innovative Ukrainian brands.
“Despite missile attacks, air raid sirens and daily challenges, our commitment remains to supporting our designers with their creativity and business growth. Our resilience is a testament to the strength and unbreakable spirit of Ukrainian designers,” said Iryna Danylevska, Founder and CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week. “The voice of Ukraine has to be heard.”
Brands will present their SS25 collections via a mixed-media format, ranging from presentations to catwalk shows, performances and more. The opening ceremony will also include designers walking through the capital, ending at the Ukrainian House (the largest international exhibition and convention centre) as a display of unity.

Dubstep godfather Skream teams up with A Couvert
It turns out that Skream – yes, Skream of Skream & Benga, the other half of the eardrum-shattering dubstep duo – has a knack for more than music. The recent Glasto performer even gave the audience a glimpse of his fashion efforts courtesy of a merch collaboration with luxury menswear brand, A Couvert. Thrashing about the Lonely Hearts Club stage takes serious stamina and Skream chose to solidify the moment with a banging wardrobe moment, donning a bowling shirt from the collaboration which dropped this month. Handmade in the UK, only 200 Skream x A Couvert shirts are available, each embroidered with the name of a Skream track. Banging.

Entire studios have ventured into the sunglasses biz, and sunnies have never looked so tempting.
