In the crowd at The Face Magazine: Culture Shift

The private view for the National Portrait Gallery’s new exhibition, all about the mag’s trailblazing antics, was a big ol’ FACE knees up.

Last night was a big one for THE FACE team, as we celebrated the opening of The Face Magazine: Culture Shift, a new exhibition about the magazine’s sprawling, brilliant history at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

There are over 200 photographs on show, from THE FACE’s very first May 1980 issue all the way to 2024: Alexander McQueen by Nick Knight, Kate Moss by Corinne Day, Becks by Vincent Peters (dripping in soy sauce, no less), Charli xcx by Richard Kern, Chappell Roan by Sharna Osborne, Harry Styles by Collier Schorr. All the good stuff and loads more – far too much to mention here.

And so hundreds of FACE friends and family huddled in from the cold on St Martins Place, to raise a glass or five to the photographers, stylists and artists that helped make the mag what it was then and is now. It was so rammed that we’ll be going again to have a proper, sober look around. We reckon you should too.

The Face Magazine: Culture Shift is open to the public from 20th February until 18th May. Book your tickets here
