Best club night
There’s a duo from the Supreme store who go by Faruso and Jin – they have a residency at Below Stone Nest on Shaftesbury Avenue. Check them out, they’re ultra valid musically and they’re good people. Tommy Gold and his crew were also throwing great nights at Chinese restaurants under his Sugar Rush brand. Not sure if they’ll do more there but fingers crossed because they’re fun! Keep an eye out on their IG.
Best boozer
This is a very contested title, but the Star & Garter on Poland Street is having a moment right now. I won’t tell you my personal favourite as that will probably ruin it.
Nightlife photographer who you want to be snapped by
Gabby Drew, at the parties hosted by *The London Chapter (*iykyk what that means). Also, if you see Minaidris, Waryamus or Filmabdi, smile for the camera – it’ll be a good picture.
Bars which serve past midnight
The Lower Third, but make sure to check out what event’s on that evening. Below Stone Nest, Trisha’s and Pink Chihuahua which is a cocktail bar underneath the late night Mexican food spot El Camion – that’s always a good last resort.
Vibiest restaurant for a big group
Walk down to Chinatown and take yourself to the Golden Phoenix.
Cafe for the morning after
Go Bruno’s for a fry up.
Hyperlocal fashion trend
It’s always super streetwear, so expect brand-core. There’s a lot of Corteiz. Always Do What You Should Do is quite prominent now too. It’s crazy how you see so many of the younger independent brands on the backs of the kids now. A real shift I’d say. Almost a new gen/tribe of streetwear. Oh, and there’s the infamous baggy work pants with the Timbs. Sigh.
Shops to get your outfit from
I mean, it’s Soho, so the obvious ones are Supreme, Stüssy, Patta, Palace and – if all else fails – go to END., they’ve got a little bit of everything. If you’re feeling swanky, dash down to Dover Street Market. For vintage, Duke’s Cupboard is the OG. For the basics, there’s like four Uniqlo’s nearby for the best plain tee in the game.
LGBTQ+ institution
I’m not part of the community so I don’t wanna mislead to the wrong place but Old Compton Street is the mainstay of the LGBTQ institutions. Roll the dice and have a good night.
Karaoke spot
Lucky Voice is my colleague Ivy’s favourite, and she’s a karaoke expert.
Coolest local radio station
Soho Radio. I love how you can just peep in and see what’s happening!
Shop to get records for your DJ set
I play digital out, so it’s not for my sets, but I do listen to vinyl at home. I’ve picked up records from Sounds of the Universe (shout out Lena!) and Phonica Records.
Local hero
Judah at Supreme! With the Deviation parties, him and Benji B have been consistently holding it down musically before I even hit secondary school. He also used to work at the OG Stüssy store. You could say he walked so dudes like me could now run!
