Rated by The Face: a weekly playlist

The best contemporary music – updated weekly.

There’s a daunting amount of music out there and we know it’s hard to keep up. But rather than submitting yourself to an algorithm for new music recommendations, try this lovingly curated playlist that The Face will be updating every week. Check it out below.

Grandma – Stomp and Grind ft. Rico Nasty

Rico’s usual vibe is intense anger, but here she slips into the silky vibe of Atlanta songwriter Grandma.

M.T. Hadley – Rooftop Party

The London songwriter does hopeless pop music – see this highlight from his debut album Empty, which is apparently about mereological nihilism”. To be honest with you, I’m really not sure what that means, but the gentle new wave synths hit the spot. Like sipping a sweet cocktail while you’re crying inside.

Joeboy – Blessings

Blissful sounds from Joeboy, who might just be the next big thing on the Nigerian scene.

Rosalía – A Palé

The Face cover star enlisted big time rap producer Frank Dukes (Future, Travis Scott etc) to work with her regular collaborator El Guincho for this moody tune. The title, a reference to shipping pallets, nods to Barcelona’s trucking industry.

J Hus – Must Be

Bouff Daddy’s first official post-prison single. Seems like his aim here is to touch the heart, rather than than climb the charts.
