Rated by The Face: a weekly playlist
Featuring M.I.A.’s show-stealing verse on Franchise, a cheeky bassline banger from Bad Boy Chiller Crew, plus object blue and TSV1’s hard-hitting body music.
We’re in a crisis, but great music keeps coming out.
To keep up with it all, check out this playlist which we lovingly update every week. Read about last week’s additions here.
Travis Scott – Franchise ft. Young Thug & M.I.A.
Travis initially teased this one – then a bouncy Young Thug collab known as White Tee – on his .WAV radio show a little while ago. Now, White Tee has transformed into Franchise, which features a show-stealing feature from M.I.A. “She’s just one of my favourite artists as humans,” our cover star recently told Apple Music. Cute!
MoStack – Miss Me ft. AJ Tracey
Earlier this year, MoStack and AJ Tracey scored a Top 5 single with Dinner Guest, and now they’re tapping into that winning formula for their fourth collab Miss Me. It’s got the key ingredients for a contemporary UK rap hit: catchy piano stabs, a touch of UK Garage sweetness and cheeky, flirtatious lyrics that are peppered with local London pride and skirmishes with the authorities.
Bad Boy Chiller Crew – German Engineering
The Bradford bassline rascals just released their mixtape Full Whack No Brakes. Good luck getting this chorus out of your head.
object blue & TSV1 – Turning Machine
Taken from their collaborative Hyperaesthesia EP, Turning Machine is a twisted techno track with uncontainable energy. Combining object blue’s abrasive experimental streak with TVS1’s club-ready pulse, the duo have opted to simply call their sound “body music”.
Mustafa – Air Forces
Tender, emotionally raw inner-city folk from Toronto’s local legend.
