Rated by The Face: a weekly playlist

Featuring NUKG from Conducta and JGrrey, NSG’s custard-praising hit and reggaeton rhythms from Kali Uchis.

We’re in a crisis, but great music keeps coming out.

To keep up with it all, check out this playlist which we lovingly update every week. Read about last week’s additions here.

Megan Thee Stallion – Body

The fourth single from Good News is a body positive anthem for the Covid era. I’m like walking around the living room, freestyling, and appreciating my quarantine body,” Meg said of the tune’s inspiration.

Conducta – Time ft. JGrrey

Conducta and JGrrey team up for an irresistible slice of new school UK garage (they’re calling it NUKG”, by the way).

Karl Benjamin – Apricot Sky

Apricot Sky is stargazing neo-soul. A confident debut single from this London newcomer.

NSG – Kate Winslet ft. Unknown T

What’s your preferred accompaniment for a warm apple crumble: cream, ice cream, or custard? ODG from NSG goes for the latter.

Miley Cyrus – Prisoner ft. Dua Lipa

Miley really isn’t messing around with the 80s pomp for this new album.

Abra Cadabra – Show Me

From scoring a massive drill anthem with On Deck to speaking truth to power on BLM with OFB, 2020 has been a banner year for the rough-voiced rapper Abra Cadabra. Show Me is another adrenaline fuelled banger from his forthcoming debut mixtape.

Kali Uchis, Jowell and Randy – te pongo mal (prendelo)

Taken from her new Spanish language album Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), Kali recruited Puerto Rican artists Jowell and Randy to assist the reggaeton bounce of te pongo mal (prendelo).

Phoebe Bridgers – Kyoto (Copycat Killer version)

You’d think this song couldn’t get any more lovely. But here we are wiping away tears to the new tender orchestral rendition.

Dua Saleh – angel rock

Minnesota artist Dua Saleh might be one of the most exciting new artists around, and a lot more people will be discovering their music once series three of Sex Education drops.

slowthai – NHS
Ty shows us more of his softer side. This one will be on newly-announced album TYRON, which is dropping February 2021.
