We’re in a crisis, but great music keeps coming out.
To keep up with it all, check out this playlist which we lovingly update every week. Listen below and read about last week’s additions here.
Octavian – Poison ft. Obongjayar, Take a Daytrip & Santi
New York duo Take a Daytrip are most famous for co-producing Sheck Wes’s raw breakthrough smash Mo Bamba. But there’s not much grit in this slinky Octavian single, which features Obongjayar and Santi – two artists who’ve put their own stamp on contemporary Nigerian music.
WiFiGawd – Legg
The DIY Washington D.C. rapper teamed up with producer Tony Seltzer once again for new mixtape Heat Check Vol.2, which lets little bits of melody bubble up in the lo-fi murk.
India Jordan – For You
An uplifting banger for the quarantined ravers, with the pleasingly sweet aftertaste of happy hardcore. For You is the lead track from India Jordan’s forthcoming EP of the same name, and some might recognise the cover image from the toilets at Dalston Superstore.
The 1975 – If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know)
The 1975 have become more experimental over the years, but every now and then they remind us that they can easily knock out a huge pop tune.
Headie One & Fred Again – Told (Brian Eno remix)
Headie One and Fred Again’s GANG mixtape was divisive. A lot of Headie’s fans were less than impressed with him deviating from the drill sound, while others welcomed him expanding his palette. Those on the latter team will be pleased to hear Headie’s voice stretched and mutated here by a musical genius.
