We all know 2024 unequivocally belongs to Charli xcx. Brat got us tuned in, the remix album ensured we stayed locked in, and now she’s conquering non-music side quests because… well, why not? Besides securing acting gigs for 2025 – Charli’s starring in five projects that we know of so far – she’s gone full-on siren for Acne Studios’ SS25 campaign.
The star left a trail of breadcrumbs back in September when she wore custom Acne Studios on the Sweat tour’s stop in Detroit, Michigan. Two months on, Acne’s new muse is firmly atop her plushy throne, bowline bag in her clutches. Did we drool a little when the green iteration of the bag popped up online? Maybe.
The campaign, shot by Talia Chetrit, features a topless Charli in paint-splattered jeans, eyeing herself in the mirror. What was it she said in 360? “When you’re in the mirror, you’re just looking at me.” A woman of her word.
Want more? Course you do. You can also catch our Spring ’24 cover star soaking up rays in front of a tree while clutching a viral multipocket bag, and giving professor vibes in some metal frame glasses and a longline coat.
Bundle up with Burberry
Spending time with loved ones at Christmas is nice or whatever. But throw in some fresh Burberry gear and we’d be more inclined to smile for family pics. Just saying!
Fully flexing its celeb clout, Burberry has plucked its coolest and most varied pals for a holiday campaign titled, with on-the-nose directness, Wrapped In Burberry: Friends and Family. Who are said friends? There’s London-based artist and designer Slawn, his partner Tallulah, and their two kids. A picture-perfect holiday postcard if ever we saw it.
David Tennant makes an appearance, too, with a scarf placed just so atop a trench. His Rivals co-star Alex Hassell also stars, staring down the camera while grasping a signature checked brolly. Et finalement, Drs. Herschel and Lilly Stoller, a Nebraska-based couple long devoted to the legacy British brand, are the epitome of a loved-up husband-and-wife in the back of a black cab. Doesn’t it just make you feel all mushy inside?
Miu Miu revamps its old garms – just in time for Christmas
For the fourth year in a row, Miu Miu comes bearing goods – sustainable ones. Mrs. Prada has been hard at work crafting and curating a collection rife with reimagined bits that make up the cornerstone of a glorious wardrobe.
Upcycled leather jackets are imbued with flower motifs, kilts have been given a new lease of life and nan-friendly jumpers have received the Miuccia treatment. Few besides Emma Corrin could make a knitted bag look so swanky, so it was a no-brainer to enlist the Miu Miu ambassador for this campaign (spot them in the latest holiday ad too).
Palace x Oakley release ace snowboarding gear
Palace is renowned for forging relationships with the best. Owning a shirt from Westwood x Palace, arguably the biggest drop this year, will spark conversation outside any overspilling pub in [insert cool neighbourhood here].
Tracking down a corset from the very same line is a fool’s errand (this fool tried and failed). So, this slopes-ready collection should drum up some hysteria. Palace has struck up a pally friendship with Californian brand Oakley, dreaming up a winter sports line. Now, here at FACE HQ we’re not the biggest boarding experts, but this collection is enough to make us want to head for the hills (in a good way). Technical puffers and bottoms are cloudlike in look and feel, Sherpa zip jackets keep the cold at bay, and there are even some sturdy, water-resistant trainers in the mix. See you on the piste.
Alex Consani breaks a sweat for Jacquemus
An Alex Consani/Jacquemus collaboration was not on our 2024 bingo card but NGL, they make a cracking team. The former FACE cover star fronts a limited-edition collection saturated with beige, biscuity tones and laced with garments that oscillate between chic après-ski pieces and hero knits for huddling in front of the fireplace. Sat astride a rowing machine, wind machine on full blast, she looks every bit the supermodel. Consani in a knitted hood with beads of water on her face is a proper stop-you-in-your-tracks moment, too.
Peter Do has left his creative director post at Helmut Lang
Sigh. Peter Do and Helmut Lang announced this week that Do is stepping down as the luxury brand’s Creative Director, with Pre-Fall SS25 as his last collection for the brand. While it seems to be an amicable separation, it begs an obvious question: why is Do, who unveiled his debut SS24 collection in New York in September (albeit to mixed reviews), stepping down after less than two years at the helm?
Still, this year, this split is hardly unusual. See also: Kim Jones and Fendi, Peter Hawkins and Tom Ford, Virginie Viard and Chanel. But the reliably perceptive José Criales-Unzueta, Fashion News Writer at Vogue Runway, made a great point about Do’s shock exit: “Do’s role was to make it function as a brand in the era of viral products and celebrity dressing and It-bags, which is itself the antithesis of the Helmut Lang ethos.”
LN-CC recruits Ed Curtis and Ronan McKenzie for its AW24 campaign
Community is integral to LN-CC. Little wonder that, for their FW24 campaign, the East London-based fashion platform is celebrating pioneers who are part of their fam. Benny Adanillo, designer and milliner to the stars, is kitted out in Balenciaga boots, and he and his partner, the artist Ed Curtis, look happy as clams in the ad. Elsewhere in the campaign photographers Ronan McKenzie, Joyce NG and visual artist Gray Wielebinski give their best smize. It’s like Where’s Wally?, the super-cool London edition.
Get your stomp on with MM6 and Dr. Martens
For their first collaboration, Dr. Martens and MM6 decided it was go hard or go home. And well-hard they did go. All three designs – the OG 1940 boot, the 1490 boot and the Penton loafer – pack a punch with steel toe-caps, contrast stitching and oxblood and black shades. And all are finished off with Maison Margiela’s signature numerical logo on the side. We know they got sole.
The Dr. Martens x MM6 Maison Margiela collection will be available from 19th November on Dr. Martens and MM6 Maison Margiela, and in select stores.
H&M taps Glenn Martens for AW25
It’s been a little over two months since Glenn Martens relinquished his role as creative director at Y/Project after 11 years on the job, and we’re a little more clued up on what he’s been doing since. Sure, he’s still at Diesel, and helming their design team requires plenty of brainpower and skill – but that doesn’t mean he can’t lend his talents elsewhere. This week, H&M announced that the Belgian is following in the footsteps of Simone Rocha, Mugler, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld by collaborating with the high-street retailer on its AW25 capsule collection. While details on the collaboration are understandably scant, H&M are clearly giving free rein to Martens’ nonconformist vision and quirky craftsmanship, with the high street brand praising his skill at “testing the boundaries between streetwear and couture”.
