We’re in a crisis, but great music keeps coming out.
To keep up with it all, check out this playlist which we lovingly update every week. Read about last week’s additions here.
Pop Smoke – Something Special
The posthumous Pop Smoke album is getting a mixed response. Hardcore Brooklyn drill fans aren’t impressed with the absence of his peers from the scene in favour of the predictable blockbuster rap album guests (Future, Lil Baby, three Quavo features etc), but some of the experiments come off. Something Special flips Tamia’s ‘98 R&B song So Into You, and the loved-up vibe suits Pop surprisingly well.
Darkoo – Kryptonite
Another slick slice of Afropop from teenage hitmaker Darkoo.
Haich Ber Na – By Floras
South London artist Haich Ber Na is onto something: letting glitchy drum patterns flutter like butterflies underneath his warm, tender vocals. Sounding good.
Jayda G – Are U Down
Bittersweet house music for all the ravers out there who’ve been struggling.
Alewya – Sweating
UK rap, RnB and a contemporary West African beat fuse together on this debut single from London artist Alewya, which captures the sensation of dancefloor chemistry.
