Juicy Couture is back, bringing with it a bold new take on glamour, toughness and sex appeal. But as the evolution of a candy-coloured icon continues, so does its gear-shift, with the championing of independent female entrepreneurs in its striking new campaign shot by Aidan Zamiri. Amongst them is designer Lois Saunders, who selects her best bits to the right, and gives us the juice below...
What is your first memory of wearing Juicy? I used to hunt and hunt for old Juicy tracksuits online. I eventually found one that was perfect for me. I loved it and wore it all the time. What does Juicy smell, taste and feel like? Juicy is just like sweet candy. How do you feel in Juicy? It makes me feel confident and sexy, whilst feeling comfortable and being able to do what I want. If Juicy was a person, who’d it be? The cool girl who is effortlessly hot. What’s the juiciest thing you’ve done this year, so far? Putting my nudes on my clothes.
bibisbooks was launched by model Bibi Abdulkadir during lockdown in April 2020. Ever since, it has established itself as a community and book club, dedicated to advocating and amplifying POC voices within literature. Their mission: to nourish and cultivate the ongoing forms of communication grounded within a safe space. At its heart, bibisbooks is committed to serving the culture and history of its community, to connect and inspire.
bibisbooks have partnered with HOME by Ronan Mckenzie; a multifunctional creative space to host their first virtual book club this Saturday 30th of January at 7:30pm. Make sure you join the club.
“A poetry book of disturbing brilliance discussing the narratives of Islam and the journey to refuge from war. She writes for the soul and her style and connection is unmatched.”
And just like that, Valentine’s Day is around the corner. And no, we don’t need daily reminders that we’re single, lonely and locked down. However, we’ll make an exception for Christopher Kane’s brand spanking new More Joy Special drop, because we’re all for showing ourselves some love. The Valentine’s themed collection includes a restock of the most iconic More Joy pieces (yes, the vibrator) as well as a selection of chilli-red loungewear pieces and cute knickers. It's perfect for sexy, stay-at-home Saturday nights, and Sunday through Monday, too.
President Joe Biden wasn’t the only one getting sworn in yesterday – it felt like outerwear, the whole category, was inaugurated, too. From Michelle Obama’s dramatic burgundy overcoat and Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman’s sunshine-yellow Prada ensemble, to Bernie’s all-purpose parka (early contender for most meme-able moment of 2021) complete with giant hand-knitted mittens, there has never been a better time to let your coat do the talking. And with nowhere to go but the corner shop right now, we suggest you wrap up warm and channel Big Coat Energy on your next supermarket sweep.
Have you forgotten what the great outdoors looks like? Us, too. Fortunately, unlikely collaborators The North Face and Gucci have come together to reintroduce us to the magic of the great outdoors via their brand new collection dropping on 22nd January. In an homage to nature and adventure, TNF and Alessandro Michele have married impeccable style, beauty and functionality. IRL exploring might not be a thing right now, but popping on one of TNF x Gucci’s heavily monogrammed puffer jackets, a neon-floral skirt and bumbag, or a particularly luxurious, velour-lined quilted coat from the collection will definitely transport you to a destination more exciting than your living room. If you’re going to be sat at home, you might as well do it in style.
If this lockdown has got you feeling existential, you’re not alone – Prada’s brand spanking new SS21 campaign is right there with you. It asks the all important questions: is nature out there, or in here? Should we slow down or speed up? Can something be truly new? (Answer here!) and marks the debut of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ pioneering foray into co-creative direction at the house. From soon-to-be-cult hole punch tops to racy slingback kitten heels and recycled nylon dresses with cleverly placed logos, shop the collection for webcam friendly looks.
