After all, it’s the fashion industry’s worst kept secret that the production of jeans is one of its biggest polluters. As denim heavyweights, Diesel have decided to fuel a sustainable resale revolution from the inside: more style, less carbon emissions, everyone’s happy. So far, 900 pairs of jeans have been given a second life, made recognisable by a red logo slapped across the back of each pair. Look at that, good as new! Palace has partnered with Evisu for the second time on a collection that nods to the Japanese denim brand’s almighty dent in the London club scene in the late ’90s and early 2000s. There’s no doubt about it, Evisu was a mainstay at garage, jungle and drum and bass raves. Immortalised via a mystical short film – featuring Palace skaters Benny Fairfax and Rory Milanes and British musicians Pa Salieu, Joy Orbison and his uncle-slash-legendary DJ Ray Keith – the collection is full of bits to look sweet in: matchy-matchy shirts and jeans, reversible souvenir jackets, crewnecks, joggers and, of course, denim. Since Steven Julien established the label back in 2012, he has offered only the best in music of Black origin: from jazz and electronic to hip-hop and all the way back again. Made in the US and finished in London, Apron Records’ latest drop includes quality embroidered baseball caps and heavy cotton tees emblazoned with various iterations of the record label’s logo.
