Burberry welcomes the summer in style

Fashion news of the week: Plus! Aries, Umbro and a filthy scrum, Eytys’ breezy capsule, a mega Levi’s knees-up, new KNWLS and Timberland’s latest launch.

Burberry welcomes the summer in style

Looking at the grey skies out the window, it doesn’t feel like summer is just around the corner. Burberry is feeling a little more optimistic than us lot, though. The British house has just launched its official campaign for the season. Shot by Burberry fave Tyrone Lebon, the sun-kissed cast took to the blue seas and boarded a boat for the campaign shots. It’s all accompanied by a short film of hot people doing hot things in Burberry’s new checked-out swimwear pieces, with an original score by Vegyn and a spoken word intro from Covco. Go on then, pass the suncream.

Levi’s continues the birthday celebrations

From Thursday to Sunday this week, Levi’s will be taking over Shoreditch, East London with a bumper programme of immersive installations and experiences to celebrate the 501’s 150th birthday. Titled The 501® Experience, highlights include panel talks from British radio legend and DJ David Rodigan and live art performances from emerging street artist Navinder Nangla. There’ll also be the world’s first vibro-acoustic therapy tub Bass Bath – we’re not so sure what that means either, but it sounds fun, no?

For the iconic jeans’ actual birthday on 20th May, Levi’s will be joining forces with international hip-hop festival Rolling Loud for a series of events and club shows in San Francisco, Paris, Tokyo and London. In the UK, it will all be going down at KOKO in Camden, with performances from K‑Trap, Unknown T and headliner Little Simz. Now thats how you throw a birthday party.

The 501® Experience will be free for visitors from Thursday 18th to Sunday 21st May at 11 Dray Walk and Dray Walk Gallery, 91 Brick Lane, Shoreditch, E1 6QL.

Aries and Umbro step onto the rugby pitch

As part of the second instalment of Aries and Umbro’s collaboration, the duo delved into the scrum and got inspired by the blood, sweat and tears of rugby. Featuring Aries’ much-loved dying techniques, the capsule collection includes two classic rugby shirts, cotton drill track pants and shorts, as well as neon and deep navy rugby socks. A beyond stellar campaign ties it all together, shot by legendary photographer and THE FACE contributor Elaine Constantine.

An eezy breezy collection from Eytys

While we’re on the topic of summer, Eytys has launched its Breeze collection, a light and fresh mix of unisex silky poplin shirts, laser-slashed tops that cheekily play with transparency and a new take on the Stockholm brand’s signature Benz jeans. This season, they come in indigo denim and feature a laser torn surface that mimics soft bouclé in a psychedelic bleached tie-dye pattern.

Timberland and A-COLD-WALL* do future functionality

As part of Timberland’s 50th birthday celebrations, the iconic outdoor brand is releasing a series of special collaborations with artists and designers throughout the year (you can read all about it here). A‑COLD-WALL* is the latest to take centre-stage, with a hyper-minimal remix of the heritage boot designed by the brand’s founder and creative director Samuel Ross. The collab also features the Timberland 6‑Inch Boot in off-white, as well as a 3‑Eye Lug Boat Shoe and ready-to-wear pieces inspired by Timberland’s rich archive, all designed with Ross’ unwavering eye for futuristic functionality.

The Timberland x Samuel Ross Future73 Collection releases in two drops: the first batch lands on 12th May at a‑cold-wall.com, followed by another release on 16th May at timberland.com, in Timberland stores and select retailers worldwide.

Alien eyes: KNWLS launches its SS23 sunnies

As part of the brand’s ever-growing accessories line, KNWLS has just released a new sunglasses collection in collaboration with eyewear brand Andy Wolf. Riffing off the bug-eye shape of KNWLS’ previous collections, their SS23 offering takes things up a notch with an XXL frame, available in frosty pink and tortoise shell. They’re outta this world.
