According to Euphoria’s costume designer Heidi Bivens, Alexa Demie’s Maddy is embracing a slightly darker, more grown up sartorial energy in season two. Her part-time gig as a babysitter for a super rich family in the hills has got her feeling broody, as Maddy fantasises about being pregnant – minus frumpy maternity gear – in the high school toilets. If anyone can pull off carrying a child while wearing a cowl neck top and a Blumarine-style fur trimmed cardigan, it’s Maddy. Meanwhile, cosplaying as a rich housewife on babysitting duty gives way to some mouth-watering archive moments: vintage Chanel co-ords, Thierry Mugler gowns and an archive Valentino SS93 dress are all on the menu, each giving a sense that Maddy is ready to burst out of her high school fashion bubble. Later, in a series of flashbacks, she beats up various kids who’ve crossed her – an activity which requires a more casual get-up, namely one of stylist Vanna Youngstein’s coveted baby tees accessorised with custom BP Jewelry earrings. Finally, the cherry on top: a classic Maddy bikini shot, complete with luxurious chiffon cover-up.

CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD CASSIE HOWARD
In this episode, we witness Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) getting herself into deeper shit with each passing minute – hell, second. She becomes consumed by her relationship with Nate to the point of near madness, which leads to her snitching on Fez (Angus Cloud), much to her sister Lexie’s (Maude Apatow) dismay. For now, Maddy is none the wiser to her best friend and ex-boyfriend’s shenanigans, but as we watch Cassie slowly unravel, her growing anxiety and desperate need to be loved are duly reflected in her outfits. Instilled with the genuine fear that Maddy might try to kill her, Cassie swaps her girly, skin tight baby tees for comfy sweatshirts, a meltdown-appropriate Fiorucci hoodie and John Galt trackies with UGGs to match – pastel colour palette, perma-tears and low-grade depression in tow.

To put it plainly, Kat (Barbie Ferreira) can’t fucking stand her perfectly sweet, kind and loving boyfriend Ethan, a dilemma which drives her character’s arc forward in this season of Euphoria. In the process of trying to better understand who she is and what she wants, Kat feels guilty for not being satisfied with something that ostensibly ticks all the right boxes: a “non-abusive, wonderful” and therefore “triggering” relationship, according to Maddy. Instead, Kat chooses to fantasise about a big, strong, Game of Thrones type who comes to save her from the boredom of Ethan’s niceness – a story she (kind of) tells excitedly to her friends. Even if she doesn’t quite know what she’s all about yet, Kat’s clothing choices remain vibrant and seductive, a high-low mix of The Cramps band merch, a Danielle Guizio mohair cardigan, an O‑Mighty skirt and silky Kim Shui top, always matched with glimmering eye-shadow and pigmented lippie.

RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT RUE BENNETT
There’s not much room for fussy fashion in Rue’s (Zendaya) repertoire, especially as her drug addiction begins to tighten its grip on her life and relationships. Things are finally back on track with her girlfriend Jules (Hunter Schafer), who’s blissfully unaware of Rue’s renewed substance abuse, while a developing friendship with fellow addict Elliot (Dominic Fike) threatens to throw a serious spanner in the works. How do you dress for that kind of chaos? Uncomplicated, oversized and relaxed – nothing like Rue’s state of mind. Although still riddled with grief, she’s moved on from wearing her late dad’s burgundy sweater, opting instead for a Fela Kuti x Online Ceramics hoodie, Aries trousers and underwear, a boyish Peels NYC jacket and, of course, beaten up Converse.

While painstakingly trying to convince herself that she’s a cool, chilled-out girlfriend who doesn’t care much for Rue and Elliot’s newfound friendship, Jules continues to wrestle with her own gender and sexual identity. Although still typically ethereal and playful, her style is more pared back and less Sailor Moon-esque in this season of Euphoria. As in her own life, Jules is exploring as many different combinations as possible, mixing and matching skimpy baby Lazoschmidl tees, tie-dyed jeans, an oversized Perks and Mini hockey top and chunky Eytys boots, layered with Online Ceramics jewellery and a custom Chole choker.

LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD LEXI HOWARD
In this episode, Maude Apatow’s Lexie Howard is done with being Euphoria’s passive poster-child. Instead, she decides to wholeheartedly pursue her crush on Fez, dressing up in a Calle Del Mar cardigan and Rachel Comey tartan trousers with matching red lipstick and Nodaleto kicks for the occasion. Lexie’s style has always had a studious, intellectual edge, but there’s a sense that she’s no longer satisfied with being relegated to the sidelines of the story. In the midst of her increasingly tumultuous relationship with Cassie, Lexie’s outfits become fancier, more grown up, hence the bucketloads of Miu Miu, which costume designer Heidi Bivens included intentionally, if not realistically. Lexie has a lot more up her expensive, puffed up sleeves.
